What is the Difference between PCB, PWB and MCPCB?

PCB (Printed Circuit Board) : Modern standard terms, including circuit design, component installation, signal processing and other complete functions.

PWB (Printed Wiring Board) : The early term, which focused on "Wiring" functions, common before the 1960s, is gradually being replaced by PCB.

MCPCB (Metal Core PCB) : A subclass of PCB, designed for high heat dissipation requirements, with metal (aluminum/copper) substrates.

Note: 

○In modern industry practice, the term PWB has been almost completely replaced by PCB. 

○MCPCB is a special subclass of PCB. It enhanced heat dissipation by replacing the substrate material (metal) , but still in the PCB technology category.

1.Aluminum substrate →"Economy car": good heat dissipation, moderate price, suitable for daily high-load use.

2.Copper substrate →"Luxury off-road vehicle": super heat dissipation, expensive, designed for extreme environments.

3.FR4 →"Shared bike": Cheap and light, but can only be used in light weight.

  ○Structural complexity

Depending on the structural complexity, there are 5 types of LED PCB. And common LED PCB are single-sided aluminum substrate.

①Mini LED PCB: Used for backlighting or direct display, requiring high accuracy.

②COB LED(chip on board): LED chips mounted directly on PCB without packaging steps to improve optical density.
