FAQ
Why is the PCB star-shaped?
A: The star outline is a standard footprint for single high-power LED modules. It exposes a large aluminum surface for heat transfer into the heat sink, provides multiple solder pad positions around the perimeter, and its notched profile allows the board to seat into spot openings, reflector bases and bezel mountings.
What are the notches around the star edge?
A: The semicircular cut-outs serve as screw clearance and wire routing points, and they locate the board against matching features in the fixture or reflector seat. The number and position of notches vary by model, and can be customized.
What does the "+" and "−" marking indicate?
A: These mark the anode and cathode pads of the LED circuit. Polarity must be observed when wiring to the driver — a reversed connection will not light the emitter and may destroy it. On the middle board in the image the markings are printed on the white solder mask beside the pads.
